So there continues to be a slow, steady trickle of comment spam into this blog’s DB.
It’s mostly dammed, now, good news is. Various measures were taken. Not sure I’m gonna reveal ‘em, here. Much as security through obscurity isn’t really my thing, well…
Well, it’s likely to bore most of you. Oh and other folk are probably more up to date on how to frustrate these asshats, anyway, so it’s not like I’d really be providing much of a service, there, either. Much as pissing in the spammers’ cornflakes in that additional way would just tickle me pink…
But I figure I can do this one additional thing. As… well… it’s a funny thing…
As one of the most common comment spam subjects that keeps coming up is this spectacularly dishonest evangelical wank from the US. He’s one of those truly, madly, deeply full-of-it types Glenn Beck would probably totally fucking love. All ‘bout how hey, said republic really was a Christian nation at the writing of its constitution, scout’s honour, actual facts of history be damned… The spambots keep trying to dump linkspam aimed at bumping up the ranking of his cesspool of a site, apparently.
Which, I’m assuming, means he’s hired them. I mean, I s’pose the other possibility is, actually, his enemies have, and they’re only spamming the sites of people like me who are likely to be motivated to find ways to make him regret it… But let’s not get pointlessly baroque about this. Even if getting pointlessly baroque about things does happen to be one of my chief joys in life…
Anyway. Now I’ve written on said subject previously. As have so many others. Not sure I’m gonna bother, therefore, doing so again. Nor will I mention the moron in question’s name. Seems to me if he’s trying to get attention with this constant hiring of spambots, even negative publicity that raises his web profile is somehow not what we’re going for, here.
Nay, on the contrary, I will do only this:

They are a fine organization. Also, they have never spammed me. And I think on a semi-regular basis, now and then when I do catch this asshole spamming me, I’m gonna seek out them or some related organization, and give ‘em a free link, handwave, and kind promotional words.
